SÃO P CASA
Hello! We are Masha and Anton. We are partners in business, philosophy of life, family, love for all things beautiful and real. We have been together for more than 14 years, and during this time we have raised a lot of common values and ideas. The brand São P Casa is one of them.

The idea of starting a family business was spinning in our minds several years ago. It matured by 2021 and finally got the shape of multifaceted project São P Casa — the brand of homeware, the online store with cosy handcrafts and the community of talented craftsmen with similar values.

In our picture of the world the HOME is a place of inspiration, switching, relaxation, fulfilment and harmony. The place for warm family gatherings. The mirror that reflects ourselves.

Every item here is full of energy and happiness by itself, and together it works like sinergy, making this effect much stronger.

We see São P Casa as a brand that will help to fill every home with aesthetic, functional and sustainable wares created by hands of amazing craftsmen. And it will do it in the same style, flow and feel.

Tabula

TABULA is a family workshop that creates serving boards, tables, wall clocks and other functional items made of solid wood since 2019. “We seek to create high-quality and durable things that will be linked with the people, their stories and emotions”, — says Artyom and Alina, Tabula’s founders.

For the collection São P Casa x Tabula they chose several variants of boards that differ by shape and size. Boards are made of solid oak, the material that will last for years without losing its functionality or aesthetics.

ARTYOM ABOUT…

THE BEGINNING
“For the very start we wanted to create tables, but we have no place and instruments for it. Our first place of work was about five square meters, and three of them were occupied with a workbench. Also we had a simple set of tools and a great wish to start with anything. So we decided to start with serving boards made of oak. Our first serious challenge was our participation in a market that lasted three days: we created over 100 items for it in just two weeks”.

TABULA TODAY
“Today we keep creating serving boards but also we do other homewares such as wall clocks. Now we are really close to our idea of creating solid wood tables”.

INSPIRATION SOURCES
“Wood is such a material that sometimes even dictates you what to do and how to do. It is a kind of source of inspiration. We also follow acknowledged craftsmen and learn from their experience”.

Fonar

Fonar is a project about minimalistic and functional handcrafted ceramic tablewares. Aliya, the author of the brand, says that it is fair tableware that doesn’t pretend. There’s no bright colours or complicated geometry: Fonar shows the very essence of every item through its laconic form and natural shades.

For the collection São P Casa x Fonar Aliya has slightly changed the base of the items (she made it a bit rounder) and came up with a new unique glaze color.

ALIYA ABOUT…

FAVOURITE COLOR
“My favourite color in ceramics is white. It is multifaceted and different every time, it is both universal and unique. In white you have nowhere to hide mistakes, so it disciplines. The form comes on the first line, pure lines and harmony of proportions”.

There is a lot of space for creativity in white, you can make experiments with transparentness, mattress, texture”.

MINIMALISM
“If I had to choose one word to describe our project, it would be minimalism. No extra details and visual noise. Just pure lines and the very essence of the item.

What is minimalism for me? It is not the philosophy, the rules or habits. It is my physical need. I can’t stand it if there is anything I don’t really need on my dressing table. I will take it away immediately. Or I will suffer.

But minimalism doesn’t mean that everything should be functional. Well, it means, but not only utilitarian, it should also be good for the soul. Bringing happiness is the main task for every item.

These ideas reflect in my ceramics. I also can’t stand it if there is anything in the plate except for it itself. Naked essence, pure emotion and, yes, rigid function. But the one that brings great joy!”

More

More is a jute decor workshop. Vika created bags, baskets, napkins and other functional accessories. 100% sustainable, stylish, cosy and not moody.

Vika knits every item by hand with special hooks, then processes it from excess lint and impregnates it with a hypoallergenic organic solution.

VIKA  ABOUT…

FIRST ORDERS
“When the unknown girl asked me if she could order baskets for the bathroom, to keep her cosmetics and cotton buds, I was happy and confused at the same time. Someone orders my baskets! Is it real?

Then I got another order for 25 cutlery baskets. At the same time my friends started making orders… So I didn’t have enough time for all of them. That was the moment when I understood — I want it to be my business”.

ENERGY EXCHANGE
“When I knit an item to someone, I imagine this person waiting for his order with excitement, then they bring it home, put it in its place, put things inside — and the house immediately fills with warm energy I put in every item.

Knitting a basket is a very private process for me. Every meter of twine goes through my hands and loop by loop folds into the item. Sometimes the process takes about two or three days, and all this time I keep the basket that I knit in my hand, I fill it with warmth and soulfulness.

When I create a basket, I imagine how it would be used in its new house and the emotions of its new owner.

I imagine the person coming home and putting their keys in a small jute basket. I imagine them going to the bathroom on a hard day's night and taking their care products out of the other jute basket.

And with every touch they feel the warmth and soul that was put into these jute items”.

Zoe

“Zoe has a super-stylish house and her own workshop where she creates necessary and beautiful things for decor,” — says Vika, the author of the brand, about her heroine. Now Vika creates functional home decor and accessories from cotton cord, all with a summer vibe. Such things add some texture to the space and freshen it.

The collection PIER São P Casa x Zoe is several light interior baskets  and two variants of serving napkins (100% cotton).

VIKA ABOUT…

THE BEGINNING
“My career began not so long ago. For a long time I was looking for the material itself and the shape... I tried pottery and sewing from eco-fabric, I created candles. In the end I have chosen a cotton cord”.

PLUSES OF COTTON CORD
«Cotton cord is durable and eco-friendly, it is a tactile pleasure to work with it… I like its versatility, it fits everything that can be created for the interior (baskets, cachepots). Also it is not colored and does not contain chemical impurities - for me this is also a big plus".

INSPIRATION
“I am inspired by the idea of self-care. I imagine a house in which there is a hostess with a warm name Zoe. She creates interior decor that makes her feel brighter and happier.

She is surrounded by high-quality and durable interior items, which she selected individually for herself. So she creates comfort around her, and at the same time she is not afraid of bright and bold decisions”.

COSh

COSh is a project that unites free art and functionality: tableware of fine color porcelain is created here.

Vika, the author of the project, is a porcelain artist who is in constant search of a new form for art expression and it is the essence of her work.

“A distinctive feature of my products is the way of forming color patterns that allow to achieve a special atmosphere and mood when serving the table. The uneven edges of the pieces (a sign of handcraft) add a sense of coziness and lightness, while the thin edges and tinkling from a light blow of a wooden stick convey the aesthetics of classic porcelain”.

VIKA  ABOUT…

THE BEGINNING
“During my artistic search in 2017 I met a group of young artists from the artisan ceramic region of Gzhel. They work with porcelain in traditional techniques, preserving the skill of folk craft. These guys are great specialists and masters of their craft. I was immediately attracted by the techniques that were new to me and started learning how to work with porcelain and plaster. Even the tiniest results made me wild with delight! I worked in the workshop a lot, with short breaks to sleep and eat”.

COSH TODAY
“Today I am still searching. However, some way has already been passed, and it is incredibly pleasant to realize! Now you can find my dishes and interior items in several colors in stores. And the creation of COSh interior candles in the spring of 2020 was an important personal event for me."

THE LOVE TO COLOR
“The color has been and it still is my main interest in life and it is my source of inspiration. This interest reflects in most of my works and porcelain is not the exception. I have experimented a lot with porcelain masses and pigments, and I haven’t formed a stricken collection of products yet. It is my primary task today”.

Aromica

AROMICA is a local workshop that appeared in St. Petersburg in 2020. Masha, its ideological inspirer, creates scented candles and diffusers here. Deep and complex fragrances for them she invents herself.

Taking care of the planet is one of the most important ideas in the Aromicas philosophy, so Masha decided to create candle holders from the halves of wine and water bottles. This solution seems perfect from the point of view of both ecology and aesthetics.

”We do believe that Aromica is a project from the future, where everything is perceived as reusable and multifunctional," says Masha.

São P Casa x Aromica is a collection of two candles with fresh and voluminous fragrances: one is absolutely Portugal, it is about the ocean, and another is about St Petersburg, its rainy weather and the cosy smell of wet forest.

MASHA ABOUT…

THE BEGINNING
“In May 2020 I ordered my first candle ingredients and tried to make a candle with the help of a YouTube video. I failed! And the next five times either. Then I found the training and learned the subtleties.

When the quarantine ended, I returned to my usual activities, but decided to leave candles as a small hobby. So I was working and at the same time I ordered and tested different waxes, oils and wicks. I created interesting fragrances, but I still couldn't decide which candle holder to choose — that time brown cans and simple glasses were popular. I didn't want to do it like everyone else, so Iwas looking for something special.”

THE IDEAL CANDLE HOLDER
“Once I saw a brown candle holder, showed it to my husband and he told me that it was just a cutted bottle. Then I thought: “Are we going to cut bottles by ourselves?” — and he offered to try.

I remember that first time when we cut our first candle holders. I sat on the floor among them and thought: “That’s it! The puzzle is done!” I was filled with a sense of pride and joy that I am on the verge of creating such an important project, that I can take care of our planet with my business”.

Duet Postscriptum

Duet Postscriptum is a creative project of two travelling photographers who currently live in Russia and get inspired by studying other countries and cultures through immersion in them.

“Photography is something that remains after, that’s why our duet is called Postscriptum”, — says Alexey and Alina. “It is post scriptum of the moment. Beautiful, ugly, sensible period of time and space”.

Alexey and Alina create their works out of love for the creative process of self-expression. In their pictures there are both random moments and formed concepts. They don’t tie themselves to specific genres and do not set themselves rigid limits, leaving a place for lively intuition.

ALEXEY AND ALINA ABOUT…

THE BEGINNING
“When we met each of us had already started his way into photography. Then we chose a direction together (the wedding photography) and then we met the founders of the São P Casa project. We filmed Anton and Masha's wedding in 2012. By that time we realized that we like to combine all genres of photography, love to travel, love to make new acquaintances. Wedding photography was just the key to the door that led to the world of self-expression through art”.

DUET PS TODAY
“In 2016 we moved away from commercial wedding photography.

First in the direction of travel, then in lifestyle, then in stock and art photography. When the guys invited us to become a part of São P Casa’s creators team, it was not easy for us to choose pictures for prints, because we have a lot of different photos. So we trusted Masha and Anton's taste”.

DOUBTS
"To be honest when agreeing to participate in this project, we were not completely sure that photo prints would be as popular as tableware or textiles. Experience tells us that in Russia the value of fine art is still developing. Now our photos are highly valued and sold in the Western market. But we do not lose hope and believe that in our native country the best is ahead. In any case it is interesting for us to be a part of the project that is based on love and value, on simplicity and sincerity, on lightness and sensitivity”.

INSPIRATION
"Today we are inspired by sincerity. Sincerity and honesty. Love in all its manifestations. The multifaceted love of life. Life itself in all its colors, in the endless play of light and shadow. Today and always we are inspired by life itself”.

Board and Crate

In the Novosibirsk workshop of home comfort Board and crate all kinds of eco-friendly household goods are created: from dishes to kid’s toys. Its creator Dima prefers working with solid oak, he saws the production, carefully processes it and finally impregnates it with a special fluid based on linseed oil.

“Board and Crate for me is not just a brand or a workshop, people or a point on the map. It is the path to self-determination. “Create space while remaining yourself” is the main motive”, — says Dima about his project.

The collection FLOW São P Casa x Board and crate will add sensor and aesthetic pleasure to any everyday ritual: from putting on your shoes and washing hands to spreading a slice of fresh bread with butter and mixing salad.

DIMA ABOUT…

THE BEGINNING
"Board and crate has been with me since 2016 and it still is. It is very similar to climbing Mount Everest - one step, another; and the higher you are, the better the view is. So it was with me: first a little hobby, then more, more… And now this is my main occupation. Well, it seems to be echoe that comes from childhood because I used to make or build something when I was a child”.

THE RELATIONSHIP WITH THE TREE
"It may sound strange but this material chose me. When I see a tree (a shield, a board or something else), I don't see just a piece of wood, I see a story hidden inside. And if I don't see it, it means that the time for this board has not come yet, and it can lie for quite a long time, until one day it gives me a sign - an idea or an image”.

THE IMPORTANCE OF THE COMMON IDEA
"Working with each item in each collection begins with a common idea. It can be any image from life, literature, music. For example, when I was working on a collection of kitchen accessories, I imagined the Moscow City - modern, impetuous, uncompromising (all at once) - and the inhabitants of modern cities as a living embodiment: always in a hurry, always on trend, always young and always in the media space”.

Linen And You

The creator of Linen And You is Anna, she is a psychiatrist who has decisively changed her occupation. One day Ana decided to surround herself with natural, tactile and visually pleasing materials, comfort — and the idea embodied in a home workshop where she sews home flax textiles.

The choice of flax does not seem random. Anya says that love for this fabric is in her blood: "My grandparents come from simple Belarusian villages, since childhood I have seen self-woven towels, linen sheets and so on at their homes”.  Now sewing each linen product for Anna is an absolute pleasure and a little trip to her childhood.

ANNA ABOUT…

THE BEGINNING
“I remember clearly how I bought that first piece of fabric, it was olive-colored (now I would obviously take something more neutral). I had absolutely no idea how much fabric I really needed. I had sewed a square tablecloth, three napkins and a table runner from it (everything, except the runner, has remained with me so far, too specific color).

Then there were attempts to soften it all at home, but I did not get such a result that would satisfy me. Now I know how and where to do it, how much fabric I need to buy and with what margin to sew, how many napkins should be in a set and what colors people like more”.

FLAX
"The perfection of flax is in its imperfection. It crumples. There are tiny knots in the weave of linen threads. Coarse flax is prickly and unfriendly, and softening requires skill.

But I accept all his imperfections with love and find in them a special, unique charm. Like what is hidden in the rays-wrinkles in the corners of the eyes, freckles generously scattered on the cheeks and a strict crease between the eyebrows. Like people, flax is imperfect and at the same time absolutely perfect”.

Sasha Kruglikova

”It was important for me to create a series of functional and interior ceramics, which will not become another detail that evokes emotions only when there is too much dust on it," says Sasha about his project "My Beast".

Sasha creates ceramic totem animals that resonate in the hearts of people: "I want every element, every detail of the product to inspire and reveal hidden corners of the inner world, helping to know yourself and accept your nature, whatever it may be”.

The collection REEF created for São P Casa x Sasha Kruglikova is inspired by the ocean and its inhabitants, and also continues the idea of creating meaningful decorative objects for the home.

SASHA ABOUT…

THE BEGINNING
“The My Beast project started for me two years ago. After the first spontaneously created ceramic work (the “Bull" cachepot), I decided to leave my job and start the path of a freelance artist. It was this work that gave me a sense of freedom and became a reflection of me as an independent artist, creator”"

THE BULL
“Why bull? Is it my favourite animal? No, not my favorite, but totemic, I realized that the other day. Analyzing the period of my life when the bull came to me, I realized that it was the strength and tenderness of this animal that  I needed to concentrate on my first task.

The task to create! Create what I love. Not for order, not according to sketches. Stop conducting master classes. I have always understood that I am not a teacher, despite the fact that it is easy for me. I am the creator.

The bull appeared in my life on its own, he just knocked on my door, came in, and I waited, because there was an internal request. It's not just a bull or a cow — it's a whole world of harmony, self-knowledge, and most importantly - it's acceptance of yourself and your nature.
It's a balance of strength and tenderness, Yin and Yang”"

TOTEMIC ANIMALS
"Many owners of my Animals bought them because this work answered their internal request. Relationships with them are established from heart to heart, and are not limited to a simple interest in a cachepot or vase.

Each of us can have an animal that responds to our inner self, helps us move towards our goals, finding hidden forces and giving hints on a difficult path”.

Sklarna

"Pure art is a kind of unacceptable luxury today, so any art object should be combined with functionality" says Alyona, co-founder of the Sklarna glass workshop (and, by the way, a certified glass artist). She creates tablewares and interior decor here: fragile Christmas decorations, textured plates, characteristic serving boards and much more. “Our design is based on natural shapes and simple shapes," says Alyona. — We create glassware by hands, using temperature and gravity."
Sao P Casa x Sklarna created the line ARCTIC, where author's plates of different diameters, a bowl and a saucer are presented.

ALYONA ABOUT…

ABOUT UPCYCLING
We are improving the technology, looking for new things not only in the decor, but also in the ways of creation permanently. This is how one of the directions of our workshop appeared — I mean upcycling. Bottles, glasses and glasses with chips — all these things become the material for the Newold series of items. In addition to the benefits for the environment, upcycling is an opportunity to experiment on familiar forms.

ABOUT FUNCTIONALITY IN ART
We proceed from the concept of utilitarian art. Our goal is to add to the world of everyday life and routine the joy of interacting with ordinary objects. Tableware is also our artistic statement, and this is the way we see creativity - without interrupting the function.

ABOUT SOURCES OF INSPIRATION
We are inspired by the whole world around us — nature, music, cinema, fine art, architecture. Even in crumpled paper, you can see the idea for the project.
